Local Artist Showcase

Local Artist Showcase is the premier, local music radio show in Henderson County with thousands of people tuning in every Friday and Saturday afternoon to listen to great local bands and musicians. You can catch you host, Izzi Hughes every Friday at 5PM and Saturday at Noon on WTZQ.  As a local, actively gigging musician herself, Izzi is passionate about promoting local artists, venues, and the overall music community in Western NC.

We are always looking for new artists to highlight here on Local Artist Showcase! So, if you’re a local musician and want your music played over the radio waves, reach out to us at 1600@wtzq.com with an MP3 of your music and let us know what shows or new music releases you have coming up! In Loving Memory of Steve Durose:

Steve Durose and Izzi Hughes took over hosting Local Artist Showcase in February of 2023. During the two years they were able to host the show together, they had on countless guests, put on themed shows (most notably their Halloween shows, where they would share their love of local lore), and spent hours upon hours talking about the thing they loved most, music. Steve passed away suddenly in November of 2024, but his spirit lives on in the show.  If you’d like to get to know Steve a little better, or feel closer to him, here’s the tribute show Izzi did with Steve’s music partner and close friend, Josh Duncan.
