The public is invited to join the Progressive Alliance of Henderson County in a Silent Vigil for Immigration Reform in front of the Historic Courthouse in Hendersonville from 4:00 to 4:30 on Friday April 19, 2024. This event will be followed by a Postcard Party and Social Time from 4:30 at 5:30 at Oklawaha Brewery, located at 147 1st Avenue East in Hendersonville.
The goal of the Silent Vigil for Immigration Reform is to heighten public awareness of and support for immigration reform legislation that: promotes reunification of families; meets economic needs of our nation; is responsive to those seeking to enter the United States legally; includes a path to citizenship; and increases the Department of Homeland Security budget for processing applications quickly and efficiently.
The Postcard Party and Social Time is an opportunity for like-minded individuals to mingle and write postcards to elected officials and others on current legislative topics and concerns of participants.
On April 19th, PAHC will focus on Gun Safety legislation. Moms Demand Action (https://momsdemandaction.org/
) will supply postcards to be hand delivered to state legislators in Raleigh on April 25th, which is NC Gun Sense Advocacy Day. There is no charge to attend the Postcard Party and all who plan to attend are encouraged to bring friends and family.
